第三十三章 (Chapter Thirty-Three)

As for fighting, who truly wins or loses? In my view, it's rather pointless.

People often resort to fighting over minor issues. The outcome? Either one is injured, or the other is harmed, resulting in mutual damage. What good does it do?

Yesterday, I saw two men nearly come to blows over a little chicken. One claimed the chicken was his, the other insisted the same. Each stuck to his own story, neither willing to yield. Fortunately, a sensible man stepped in to mediate, and the matter was settled.

Lao Zhang is also fond of fighting. He believes it showcases his might and makes others fear him. In truth, others fear him only because of his unruly behavior, not out of genuine admiration.

For one to earn others' admiration, one must possess some real skill or noble character. Like Lao Zhang, relying solely on brute force and tyranny will never win people's respect.

I often think that people should get along harmoniously. If you yield a step, I show you three points of respect. Wouldn't that make everyone comfortable? Why must we fight to the death?

Yet there are many in this world who refuse to think this way. They see yielding as cowardice, as lack of ambition. Thus, they contend over everything, and if they can't win, they resort to fighting. Alas, such a mentality is truly deplorable!

Speaking of fighting, I recall Li Ying and Wang De. That day, they fought with Lao Zhang over the teacher's wife. Though it was out of righteous indignation at the time, in hindsight, it seems rather rash.

Fortunately, neither of them was seriously injured. Otherwise, injuring themselves over a Lao Zhang would have been utterly worthless.

I hope they will be calmer in the future and not resort to violence so readily. Force is not a good way to resolve matters.
